Marietta's Legacy of Love Supports New Marietta Area Parents

Brainchild of Marietta Rotary's recent Past President Mary Ansley Sutherland, The “Legacy of Love” project provided a package that included Baby’s first book and other parenting materials to all parents who gave birth to babies at Kennestone Wellstar Hospital over the last two years. Under the leadership of current Club President Will Allen, we finished the work. Originally funded by a District Grant, Legacy of Love proved to be so popular that the club extended funding for a period of time with support from the Rotary Clubs of Smyrna and Atlanta Brazil, as well as by Kennestone Wellstar Hospital.

Rotary members assembled the packets and many work parties and delivered them to the WellStar Kennestone team of nurses, who then delivered them to the new parents. This project spanned over a two year period, and several thousand books and packets were delivered to parents. Pictured are Rotarians gathered at the regular Wednesday meeting to assemble and prepare final packages which were delivered to Kennestone by Rotary President Will Allen and President Elect Jennifer Nelson to then be distributed by the nursing staff. Thanks to all who participated in this community effort over the last two years.
