This was an exceptional project funded by a District 6900 Collaborative Grant!
Led by the Rotary Club of Peachtree City and in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Barnesville, Fayetteville, Griffin, Griffin Daybreak, Lake Spivey / Clayton County, Newnan and Tyrone, the clubs were able to recognize a need in their local communities in Georgia for HEALTHY options across their 5 counties. The "Healthy" part of the equation was more than just the food choices, though. While the boxes contained several healthy food options, they also included healthy (and easy) recipes, physical and mental health wellness tips, healthy habits coloring books for kids of multiple ages and information on dealing with anxiety and stress (including mental health hotline contacts).
The project provided 1000 boxes across the area through a partnership with the local food bank. Rotarians volunteered over 4 evenings to pack out the boxes and 2 days to distribute the boxes with representatives from each club in attendance at those volunteer days. Boxes had multiple references to ROTARY both inside the boxes and on the outside including our D6900 QR Codes to spread our public awareness to everyone touched by this project.
Great Job by our District for being able to provide these funds for this amazing project and big THANKS to all of the members across these 8 clubs for recognizing the need in their community and taking action to help support it!
